How is it passed on?

Is not usually passed on through sex but it is found in the faeces (poo) of an infected person. If you have contact with your partner’s poo when you have sex then there is a chance of it being passed on.  It can also be passed on through poor hand hygiene (failing to wash your hands properly after going to the toilet).


Sometimes flu like symptoms or jaundice (yellowing of the skin). Some people don’t have any symptoms.

What are the long term effects?

It is very unlikely that there will be long term effects.

Can you get rid of it?

Yes but with medical advice from a doctor.
